Springish weather has been upon us! I've really enjoyed it, being able to get the kids out, hang out in the fresh air and sunshine...it's been great! C-man's been getting on his bike and finally learned how to pedal this year! He's so proud of himself, and so are we. Our Daring Diva has acquired a bike as well...a little Dora trike! Her legs are just shy of being long enough to pedal, but she manages to get around just fine! The kids also beg mommy to get out the side walk chalk and draw hopscotch, and they tote around bucket loads of our driveway and redeposit it everywhere.
Saturday we decided to take the kids to the Zoo. We bought season passes last year with some of the kid's birthday Money (They have so many toys, that seemed like a better investment), and have enjoyed making trips out there occasionally. So, we get to the zoo, and C-man is just kind of plodding along, kind of mopey. I was concerned he wasn't feeling well...but he assured me that everything was fine. Kept wanting to kick his sister out of the stroller so that he could ride instead of walk. They were both antsy to see the lions...we get there and the spend about five seconds looking at the lions (who were napping!!! All the stinking cats were napping) and then announced they were ready to "go swimming". There is an area in the zoo opened no more than 2 years ago that we finally went to last year....it has a big Merry Go Round, a HUGE sand box area, a petting zoo of sorts and then this man made stream where kiddos can get in and splash around. Apparently my 2 have not forgotten that after their one trip there back in August! The closer we get to that side of the Zoo, the more life comes back to our son...the transition was amazing! We let the kids paddle around for about 30 min. and get them out and dry off. Darling Diva wailed, and then remembered there was something else she wanted to do..."I want to ride the Merry" (Go Round)! I told her we'd see how much it was....I had no cash on me that day...since we had passes this was an opportunity to do something with the family, and rather cheaply! We get up to the "merry" and they do charge...while only $1 per person, I still could not fulfill her need to ride the Merry. She was saddened and distraught, and has reminded us everyday that she wants to "ride the Merry and the purple camel" (the camels had on colored harnesses). OH yes! And the flamingos are no more....they are pink chickens!!!
Sunday night we tried our hand at foundue....everybody went back for seconds, so that was encouraging. We've decided that since everyone is going to be here for Easter that we'd like to have a small group Easter dinner. Should be fun!
Monday we met up with Laura and her little guy to go swimming on campus. DDiva is going to be my little fish! She was jumping off the sides, kicking and trying to swim, and shrieking with laughter in the water. This makes mama happy!!! I was a competitive swimmer back in the day, so if there's a chance that my kids show any interest in the same, I'm excited. C-man on the other hand screamed! I've never had him do that to me before! He'll usually get in and hold on to me...but I was trying to show him he could put his feet down and his head would stay well above the water! He screamed and screamed and when I let go of him he made a beeline out of the water! I'm really not sure what happened there! I hope we can eventually over come the fears and actually progress to getting back in the pool and learning some basic swimming skills.
That's pretty much the excitement that's been going on here. Trying to stay entertained until payday! C-man has his first soccer game this week...I'm trying to get my Easter dress finished (finally broke out the sewing machine I got for Christmas...yea!!!!) and DDiva's "straws berry cake" dress....AND the BIG project, getting ready for the neighborhood yard sale. Believe me, this is going to be a big project for this house!!! We've got the junk!!!
